Today’s Muskegon Chronicle has a story on a local tourism promotion intiative where Muskegon boasts about being “Up North enough.” Evidently, the idea is to peel off some who would continue on to Ludington and parts further north and have them Settle for Muskegon. State Republican chair calls for cuts to tourism funding

In a post this evening on MichiganLiberal.com, Michigan Republican Party chairman Saul Anuzis called for cuts to Michigan’s tourism spending. In listing a series of four cuts to Michigan spending, cutting tourism spending was the number one priority for the state’s top Republican.

While I’ve been under the impression that the Governor and State House leadership want to invest in Michigan, and Mike Bishop and the Senate Republicans want to cut Michigan down, I now see I’ve been mistaken.
