Here’s a cool story from downstate: by moving from traditional incandescent lights to more energy-efficient LED lights, Lansing Township has dramatically cut the amount of energy necessary to power its annual Christmas light display. The LED Christmas lights were purchased from HolidayLEDs.com, an e-commerce company based in Jackson, Michigan. In addition to the energy savings, these lights will also save the township a bundle of money: the energy costs for the LED lights amount to less than 10% of the cost to power incandescent bulbs. What’s more, these lights are designed to last more than 200,000 hours, meaning they will be around for years and years to come, generating additional savings.
Energy efficiency and saving taxpayers money – that’s definitely enough to make Santa’s list this Christmas.
